Vegan food blog Thug Kitchen has taken veganism’s online movement by storm. The plant-based recipe website recently claimed Saveur’s award for 2013 Best New Blog (beating out non-veg competitors) and is now being spotlighted by The Washington Post for its take on healthier, more compassionate eating habits. The news outlet cites veganisms’ rapidly growing popularity as a key component of Thug Kitchen’s success in addition to the numerous vocal celebrity vegans––such as former President Bill Clinton––who tout the benefits of eating plant-based. The article also lists Vegan Black Metal Chef and Post Punk Kitchen as successful vegan blogs that have used a similar combination of humor and charm to attract a large following beyond just the vegan community.
