Women-founded vegan body care brand Athena Club recently donated one million period products to non-profit organization PERIOD, which distributes free menstrual products to community centers, homeless shelters, and women in need across the country. The products—which will be distributed to women via PERIOD’s partnerships with service providers such as Good+ Foundation—include Athena Club’s tampons, which are chlorine- and fragrance-free and made with bio-plastic; BPA-free applicators; and the brand’s pads and liners, which are made from organic cotton without any harsh chemicals, additives, or dyes.
“In such difficult and uncertain times, we wanted to ensure that women across the United States have access to essential products such as tampons, pads, and liners,” Maria Markina, co-founder of Athena Club, said. “We believe that access to safe and high-quality products is absolutely crucial, and we are excited to partner with PERIOD to help make a small difference.”
Founded in 2014, PERIOD has helped donate more than 15 million pieces of products through their 800 registered chapters worldwide.
