Plant-based burger chain Next Level Burger will open its first location on the East Coast on January 31. The sixth location of NLB will be inside of Whole Foods 365 store in the Fort Greene neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY, with a separate seating area. The chain serves veganized American comfort foods such as dairy-free chili cheese fries, coconut-based milkshakes, and burgers—offered with either a house-made vegan patty or the Beyond Burger patty. The flagship location of NLB was founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife team Matthew and Cierra de Gruyter with the mission of bringing wholesome, plant-based options to Bend, OR. The duo has since opened several locations, expanding outside of Oregon in August with a Seattle outpost inside a Whole Foods Market. Earlier this month, NLB opened its first California location inside of a Whole Foods 365 in Concord. “We hope to bring the burger revolution to one of the greatest cities on the planet,” Matthew de Gruyter told VegNews in regard to NLB’s East Coast expansion, “and believe it’s a bold and awesome next step for the reinvention of the all-American burger joint.”
