Burger Patch—Sacramento, CA’s first all-vegan burger concept—recently opened a permanent food stand inside Golden 1 Center sports arena, the home of NBA team Sacramento Kings. The stand offers select items featuring Beyond Meat’s burger patties and sausages such as the Patch Burger or Double Burger (which includes sauce, lettuce, tomato, vegan cheddar, and grilled red onion on a sourdough bun); and Patch Sausage or Spicy Sausage (with bell peppers, onion, vegan cheddar sauce, and creamy mustard on a sourdough bun), all served with a side of housemade chips. Burger Patch was founded by husband-and-wife team Danea and Phillip Horn, who hosted several successful burger pop-ups in 2017. The couple is currently building a permanent restaurant in Sacramento and expects to open it in early 2019. “The continued demand from our fans to get the product in their hands now led us to look for creative opportunities for immediate placement while our brick-and-mortar is built out,” Phillip Horn told VegNews. “Because the menu was designed for our pop-ups to execute in small spaces at great speed, we were confident we could replicate the model in an arena space. Golden 1 Center was a natural fit. From concerts to basketball games, we’re so thankful to be able to provide this nostalgic plant-based option to fans.”
