Vegan Company Donates 20,000 Meals to Hungry Children Worldwide

Ireland-based vegan startup fiid (pronounced “feed”) recently donated 20,000 plant-based meals to children in need. The company partnered with food-justice organization Mary’s Meals to create a program where every purchase of fiid products results in a donation of a nutrient-dense school lunch to a child in a developing country. “We’re very proud to say that, with the help of our customers, friends, family, and supporters, we’re able to provide 20,000 meals that will have an enduring impact on children in some of the most challenging regions in the world,” fiid founder Shane Ryan said. “I started fiid in order to challenge myself to be better and to have a positive impact, and I’m delighted that our customers have come on board with such enthusiasm to help us make that vision a reality.” Launched in December 2018, fiid produces microwaveable bowls—in flavors such as Hearty Moroccan Chickpea Tagine, Italian Sundried Tomato & Lentil Ragu, and Smoky Mexican Black Bean Chili—that are now sold at 70 stockists across Ireland. The company expanded to the United Kingdom through online market Ocado and plans to donate 200,000 meals to children in need by the end of 2019.
