California-based vegan chain Plant Power Fast Food (PPFF) will open its fourth location, complete with a drive-thru, in November in the space of shuttered traditional meat- and cheese-heavy eatery University Burger in Long Beach, CA. PPFF launched its flagship location in San Diego in 2016 before expanding to Encinitas last year and plans to open a Redlands, CA, location this month. “Our secret mission has always been to turn more people on to a vegan diet,” co-owner Zach Vouga said. “It’s obviously the wave of the future. Our brand isn’t preachy; the food itself is the message.” The PPFF menu consists of vegan takes on American classics such as burgers, chicken nuggets, tenders, and sandwiches, and features “The Big Zac”—the chain’s vegan version of McDonald’s famed Big Mac (named after Vouga).
