Famed pizza chain Paulie Gee’s will open a vegan-friendly pizza slice shop in Brooklyn’s Greenpoint neighborhood in the coming weeks. With locations in Columbus, Baltimore, Chicago, and Miami already offering an extensive selection of vegan pies, the pizzeria’s newest slice shop will have various vegan offerings in traditional New York-style square and triangle-shaped slices, as well as whole pies. Menu items include the Vegan Grandma made with coconut-oil based NUMU vegan mozzarella, house-made vegan sausage, pickled jalapeños, and caramelized onions; Spicy Vegan Vodka with vodka cashew cream sauce, cubed mozzarella, and thinly sliced Calabrian chilies; and Vegan White with onion cream sauce, mozzarella, fresh garlic, basil, and Aleppo oil. “It started as a demand,” owner Paulie Giannone told VegNews, “but I have developed an appreciation for our vegan offerings.”
