San Francisco will host its fourth annual Vegan Iron Chef competition next Wednesday, February 24, with a star-studded All-Stars edition that will see past winners compete. The event is modeled after the popular Food Network show in which chefs race against the clock to create a multi-course meal while having to incorporate a secret ingredient. Season one winner raw-foods chef Lisa Books Williams became the first Vegan Iron Chef in 2013, edging out her competition with a “Bali resort”-grade meal using green tea. Famed New York chef Jay Astafa won the second annual competition at 21-years old with an Impromptu Sunday Dinner Party theme, and reigning champion and former Millennium chef Kevin Schuder won 2015’s competition with stunning spring rolls and sushi. VIP ticket holders will get to taste everything all three chefs prepare while sitting in front-row premium seating. VegNews’ Publisher Colleen Holland is the head judge for this year’s competition.
