Washington, DC-based Barnard Medical Center—founded by Neal Barnard, MD as part of medical group Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine—recently launched a new telehealth program. The program allows individuals across the country to consult via computer or smartphone with doctors, nurse practitioners, and registered dieticians about their health concerns. The center’s healthcare providers can help with the vast majority of health issues, and they emphasize a plant-based diet and preventative medicine, including helping individuals gain better control of their weight, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other chronic health issues.

“Keeping our patients healthy is always our number one priority, and with many healthcare offices closed in response to this global pandemic, we wanted to make sure that the doctor is still in at the Barnard Medical Center,” Barnard told VegNews. “With telehealth, we can help our patients address a wide variety of health concerns—all from the comfort of their homes.” The center’s telehealth services are currently available in Arizona, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, and Virginia, with plans to expand to other states in the near future.
