Vegan brand Field Roast recently expanded its Chao Creamery dairy-free line with the addition of new product Original Mayo. The gluten-free, safflower oil-based mayonnaise alternative—described by the company as “smooth and balanced”—is made with its Chao tofu (a traditional Asian method of fermenting tofu), pea protein, balsamic vinegar, sea salt, and spices. Last month, Field Roast also debuted three vegan dressings—Cracked Peppercorn Ranch, Bold & Tangy Thousand Island, and Classic Caesar—at trade show Natural Products Expo West. These new vegan products come after meat company Maple Leaf Foods acquired Field Roast for $120 million in December, at which time Field Roast released rules entitled “Vegan Policy Affirmation,” stating that all of its products will remain vegan.
