New vegan restaurant Matthew Kenney NM is slated to open on November 18 on the third floor of the Beverly Hills location of luxury department store Neiman Marcus. Los Angeles Times reports the new 24-seat restaurant (with eight at the bar) will feature menu items such as avocado toast, a mushroom burger, a taco salad with sunflower seed-based chorizo, and a key lime tart made with avocado. The restaurant is the newest addition to vegan chef and cookbook author Matthew Kenney’s growing empire, which currently includes New York-based pizzeria Double Zero (formerly 00 + Co), Los Angeles fast-casual eatery Make Out, Japanese-inspired Arata in Belfast, ME (reopening in May), and fine-dining restaurant Plant Food + Wine—with locations in Los Angeles and Miami. In a recent interview with Wall Street’s financial news outlet The Street, Kenney revealed that not only will he be opening 10 more vegan restaurants next year, but he also plans to expand his plant-based culinary schools—a concept he pioneered in 2009—to locations in Paris, Barcelona, Sydney, and London. In addition to Matthew Kenney NM, Rodeo Drive shoppers will soon have more vegan options than ever, as Gratitude—an upscale version of Cafe Gratitude—is slated to open in Beverly Hills early next year.
