New company Vegan Vend will soon launch a vegan vending machine in Bristol, England. This week, the company exceeded its goal of raising £3,200 ($4,230) on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. “We recently went out onto the streets of Bristol with free samples of the food that will be available to start with in the machines, hoping to get some thoughts on the idea and to spark awareness and interest,” Vegan Vend founder Remi Toth said. “It was a really successful day, and we got an incredible amount of positive feedback from members of the public both about the taste of the food and the idea of having an all-vegan vending machine.” Vegan Vend’s machine will feature items from local companies including lunch items from Real Wrap Co. such as sandwiches Coronation Chickpea and Vegan Sausage and wraps Sweet Potato Pakora and The Big Bombay Bhaji. The machine will also offer desserts by brand Kind Cakes Mean Bakes such as the Millionaire Shortbread and raspberry-filled Bakewell Slice. The exact location and debut date of the vending machine—which will be decorated by local artist Hope Talbot—will be announced in coming months, and Toth hopes to expand the concept to cities around the world. In April, vegan eatery The Green Moustache Organic Café launched Canada’s first vegan vending machine inside of a sports center in Whistler, British Columbia.
