PETA offers compassionate lesson plans to teachers.
January 18, 2009
In honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, which the President-elect has designated as the King Day of Service, PETA is encouraging schoolteachers to give students a lesson on animal welfare. The organization has created a free lesson plan for educators encouraging them to apply Dr. King’s non-violent work to animal-protection issues while presenting peaceful ways to influence businesses and the government to not exploit animals. Ideas include urging students to write letters to companies asking them to forgo testing chemicals on animals, and educate friends and family about animals’ abilities, habitats, and social behavior. Hey, MLK’s dream came to fruition, so there’s hope for animal advocates everywhere that dreams really do come true.
