Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. just announced its plans to eliminate gestation crate-derived pork from its supply chain. Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is the parent company of Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Pullmantur, Azamara Club Cruises, and CDF Croisières de France, serving more than 20 million patrons across the world. Revealing plans to fully eliminate gestation crates from the supply chain by 2022, the company is receiving praise from animal-friendly organizations such as The Humane Society of the United States. The cruise company follows in the footsteps of fellow cruise company Carnival Cruise Lines, as well as Burger King, Costco, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Safeway, and many others in standing against the cruel metal cages that disallow pigs to roam free.
