The heavyweight champion was plagued with vices and emotional instability, but he seems to have taken a turn for the better with the help of veganism.

In past years Mike Tyson has been in a downward spiral, garnering more publicity for his antics and tribulations than for his boxing prowess. In a new episode of Oprah Winfrey’s Where Are They Now? the former knockout artist speaks about improved physical and emotional well-being, a change that he attributes to veganism. “I lost weight, I dropped over a hundred pounds,” says Tyson. “I just felt like changing my life, doing something different. And so I became a vegan … it gave me another opportunity to live a healthy life.” The former heavyweight champion notes on the show that since his switch to a plant-based diet nearly three years ago, he has successfully battled his drug addiction and has pushed himself to become a better father and husband.
