Musician and vegan advocate Moby has partnered with New York restaurateur Ravi DeRossi to expand his vegan eatery Ladybird into a larger space. DeRossi opened Ladybird last year in the space of Bourgeois Pig—a fondue restaurant he closed in his effort to veganize as many of his 15 restaurant holdings as possible. The new iteration of Ladybird will feature a menu developed by executive chef Derrick Styczek—who received Michelin stars for his work at NYC bistro Etat-Unis and Norway’s Bagatelle. A drinks program will be developed by famed bartender Jane Danger—who works with DeRossi at his two other veganized eateries, Mother of Pearl and Cienfuegos. According to DeRossi, the new space will be 1.5 times bigger and will seat 60 guests—accommodating 20 more diners than Ladybird’s previous space could hold. “We’re moving because we needed more space,” DeRossi told VegNews. “We were turning away customers several nights each week.” DeRossi also recently opened vegan bar Coup and will donate all profits to causes defunded by the Trump administration such as Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union. The new Ladybird is scheduled to reopen in September.
