WalletHub Crowns NYC as Best Vegan City

The budgeting resource compared 100 cities using lifestyle metrics—such as the availability of vegan restaurants, affordability of meat-free foods, and juice bars per capita—to determine the best places for vegans to call home.

Financial planning website WalletHub released a new study about the vegan- and vegetarian-friendliness of the 100 most populated cities across the United States. The company compared 16 metrics aimed to paint a picture of the affordability and accessibility to meatless foods in each city. WalletHub found that New York City is the most veg-friendly, while Baton Rouge, LA fell at the bottom of the list. When it comes to specific metrics, Corpus Christi, TX touts the lowest priced vegetarian groceries while Honolulu, HI has the highest; Scottsdale, AZ boasts the highest percentage of restaurants that serve vegan options, while Newark, NJ is the lowest; and San Francisco had the most farmers markets per capita, while Newark, NJ had the least.
