Israel-based fashion label Marei 1998 recently debuted its “I Am Furless” collection. Designed by 20-year-old Maya Reik, the line features luxury full-length vegan fur coats, plush handbags, traditional stoles (but without mink or other animal fibers), and one bold statement piece: a limited-edition white faux fur scarf emblazoned with the message “I Am Furless.” The collection is picking up traction with compassionate celebrities, including singer Ariana Grande who wore one of Marei 1998’s black faux fur coats on the way to her performance on a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Fur continues to fall out of fashion amongst the world’s most iconic brands, including Versace, Donna Karan/DKNY, and Chanel, which have all pledged to cease using fur this year.
