New Meaty Vegan Pizzas Debut at 179 Tesco Stores Across UK

Vegan Italian-style pizza will debut in the freezer section at 179 United Kingdom locations of grocery chain Tesco on September 16. The new product is made by Swedish vegan brand Oumph! and features the brand’s soy-based meat, Violife’s vegan cheese, semi-dried tomatoes, and arugula atop a hand-stretched crust baked in a wood-fire oven. In addition to its pizza, Oumph! will also launch vegan bacon “Salty & Smoky” alongside its existing products at Tesco. This year, Tesco has launched a number of plant-based options, thanks in large part to Derek Sarno, the supermarket chain’s Executive Chef and Director of Plant-Based Innovation. In January, Tesco launched Wicked Kitchen, a 20-item meal line created by Sarno, at 600 locations, and has sold 4 million units of the plant-based line to date.
