Starting tomorrow, the new Beyond BBQ Cheeseburger will be available at participating locations of fast-food chain Carl’s Jr. The new burger was inspired by the chain’s popular Western Bacon Cheeseburger and features a vegan Beyond Meat patty topped with Carl’s Jr. original BBQ sauce, American cheese, onion rings, and served on a sesame seed bun. Designed for “flexitarians,” the new burger (which is sold for $6.29, price subject to change depending on location) can be ordered vegan by omitting the cheese and onion rings (which contain whey).

In January, Carl’s Jr. was one of the first major fast-food chains to partner with Beyond Meat to create its Beyond Famous Star (ordered vegan by omitting mayonnaise and cheese), and has sold 4.5 million plant-based burgers since—the second most successful burger launch at Carl’s Jr. in two years. “After seeing the overwhelming demand for our Beyond Famous Star, in true Carl’s Jr. fashion we knew it was time to give customers even more plant-based innovations to delight their taste buds. With one Western Bacon Cheeseburger sold every second, we saw this as the perfect flavor inspiration—and so the new Carl’s Jr. Beyond BBQ Cheeseburger was born,” Patty Trevino, Senior Vice President of Carl’s Jr. Brand Marketing, said. “We’re always looking for the next great way to innovate and deliver the most craveable burgers, and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with industry leader Beyond Meat to bring new and exciting flavors to our customers.”

Starting October 28, select locations of Hardee’s—a similar chain owned by Carl’s Jr. parent company CKE Restaurants—will test two items made with Beyond Meat: The Beyond Thickburger and Beyond Sausage on a biscuit.
