This week, sandwich chain Subway added two vegan options to the permanent menu at participating United Kingdom locations. Simply called “Vegan Sub” and “Vegan Salad,” the new options feature a vegan patty spiced with red pepper, chili, garlic, and red onions that can be ordered with Subway’s vegetable toppings. Earlier this month, Subway UK also added the Vegan Wrap—made with a vegan patty, guacamole, lettuce, onions, peppers, tomatoes, and vegan garlic aioli—to its Signature Loaded Wrap collection. In recent years, the international chain has updated its menu with vegan options worldwide. Stateside, Subway introduced two vegan sandwich options—the Black Bean and Malibu Garden—in 2015 at 1,000 locations. Last year, Subway Finland debuted a vegan steak-stuffed Vegan Delite and the chain added a smashed falafel-stuffed sandwich to its Australia and New Zealand locations—the first vegan option to be offered at Subway restaurants in the region.
