Today, vegan brand Beyond Meat announced the expansion of its partnership with European brand Zandbergen World’s Finest Meat which will bring a vegan meat production facility to Europe by the first quarter of 2020. Zandbergen—which distributes both animal-derived and plant-based protein—will construct the facility, Beyond Meat’s first production plant outside of the United States, in Zoeterwoude in the Netherlands. “The consumer response in Europe has been very positive and we look forward to being able to better serve those customers with locally produced products. We are pleased to have strong strategic partners in Europe like Zandbergen to help us grow our global footprint,” Beyond Meat Executive Chairman Seth Goldman said. Last year, Zandbergen began to distribute Beyond Meat’s vegan products across the foodservice and retail sector in Europe, including in supermarkets such as Tesco in the United Kingdom and retailer Albert Heijn in the Netherlands. “As the demand for plant-based products continues to expand in Europe, we are thrilled to be partnering with Beyond Meat to produce their innovative products outside the US,” Zandbergen Chief Commercial Officer Adriaan Figee said. Beyond Meat is looking to expand its distribution across Europe, particularly at restaurant chains—a goal it has successfully accomplished in North America through partnerships with A&W Canada, Carl’s Jr., and Del Taco, along with many others.
