Plant-based startup JUST—maker of popular vegan egg replacer JUST Egg—may become the next publicly traded plant-based company, according to CEO Josh Tetrick. “At some point, we’ll enter the public markets,” Tetrick told Bloomberg. “No timeline for it, but at some point we’ll do it. We’ll see that as a financing event.” Tetrick’s commentary comes after vegan brand Beyond Meat launched its initial public offering (IPO) on NASDAQ on May 2 and experienced a spike in share prices up to 163 percent, making it the most successful IPO of the year. “When we raise capital, it attracts investors to the space,” Tetrick said, “and when others have really successful IPOs, like Beyond Meat did, it brings more attention to everyone.” On the capital raise end, Beyond Meat competitor Impossible Foods announced earlier this week that it raised $300 million in a Series E funding round with backing from celebrities such as Serena Williams, Katy Perry, Trevor Noah, and Jay-Z.
