Twitter co-founder Evan Williams—through his investment firm Obvious Ventures—holds a $414 million stake in vegan brand Beyond Meat, which is substantially greater than the $10 million stake he currently holds in Twitter, according to calculations released by Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. Both Williams and fellow Twitter co-founder Christopher Isaac “Biz” Stone—who has been vegan for years—were early backers of Beyond Meat, prior to the company’s debut of the Beyond Burger. On May 2, Beyond Meat became the first vegan meat company to be publicly traded on NASDAQ and its initial public offering (IPO), which spiked as much as 163 percent, was the most successful of 2019. Beyond Meat’s top six shareholders, including its CEO Ethan Brown, collectively netted $1.6 billion after its IPO.
