The second annual Vegan Fashion Week (VFW) will return to Los Angeles from October 10 to October 15 with a “Fashion Is Activism” theme. Created by French animal-advocate Emmanuelle Rienda—founder of creative agency LE FRENCHLAB—the goal of VFW is to end animal exploitation in all forms by showcasing vegan innovation in the fashion industry and elevating designers who do not rely on animal-derived materials through a multi-day, immersive experience. Singer and actress Kate Nash will host the Awards Night & Fundraiser at the Theater at Ace Hotel to raise funding in support of vegan designers and creatives. The night will honor singer Miley Cyrus, actress Natalie Portman, and Kristen Stewart’s fashion stylist Tara Swennen for their work to end animal exploitation. VFW will include “Vegan World,” a 50,000-square-foot vegan trade show held at a penthouse in the LA Arts District in Downtown, along with a conference that focuses on the critical issues facing the fashion industry and highlights emerging alternatives to leather, fur, wool, and other animal products. Other events during VFW include runway shows, a designer showroom, a vegan lounge with a variety of food options, a vegan clothing swap, and other experiences. “The relationship between fashion, factory farming, and climate change cannot be ignored,” Rienda said. “Vegan sustainable fashion is the ultimate answer to climate change and waste pollution. I created an inclusive and collaborative movement dedicated to redesigning the industry and consumers’ daily habits.”
