Vegan shop The KYND Butcher recently opened in Ascot Vale, an inner suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Founded by Matthew Sipala and Amanda Lethlean, KYND offers a variety of vegan meat products, including sausages made with brown rice and sun-dried tomatoes, lentil burgers, tofu schnitzels, and tempeh skewers, along with cheeses, dips, and antipasto platters. The shop offers its goods in biodegradable and reusable packaging and encourages customers to bring their own containers to reduce waste. “People are looking at the impact animal products are having on the environment, their health, and of course the animals,’ Sipala told the Herald Sun. “It’s exciting to be able to provide people with [vegan options] and be the head of change for a greater good in the local area.” KYND joins a growing number of Australian businesses that offer vegan meat products, including Suzy Spoon’s Vegetarian Butcher, which opened in Sydney in 2012 as Australia’s first meat-free butcher shop.
