German fashion brand HUGO BOSS recently debuted its first all-vegan suit. The Vegan Slim-Fit Suit ($895) is made from a blend of linen and viscose and is available online and in HUGO BOSS stores in black, dark blue, and beige. “An innovative suit by BOSS Menswear, responsibly crafted in Italian linen without the use of any animal-based materials,” the brand describes its new suit. “Made in Germany, this vegan suit is designed as part of our commitment to finding more sustainable ways to produce and finish our products. Cut to a streamlined fit with a woven micro pattern, this partially lined ensemble offers a modern foundation for business wear.” Hugo Boss’s new suit is certified vegan by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and bears a “PETA-Approved Vegan” logo. “We are delighted to see that animal-friendly fashion is on the rise, and BOSS is the first world-known premium brand to set this stylish milestone in menswear,” PETA Germany Vice President Harald Ullmann said. “Kind people can now buy high-end business suits that are not only stylish and fashionable but also cruelty-free and sustainable.” HUGO BOSS committed to banning fur from its collections in 2015 and launched a line of sneakers made with Piñatex—a pineapple-based vegan leather—in 2018.
