On January 18, international pizza chain Papa John’s will add a Vegan Stuffed Crust pizza to its menu across the United Kingdom. Since January 2019, Papa John’s UK has offered vegan “sheese” made by Bute Island Foods and has since debuted a variety of vegan pizzas and appetizers. The new vegan cheese-stuffed crust pizza is available in sizes ranging from medium to XXL and costs an additional £2.75. Prior to the launch of the vegan stuffed crust option, Papa John’s also launched Not-Chicken Vegan Bites and The Alice Tai, a vegan pizza created by Paralympic gold medalist swimmer Alice Tai. The latter features a thin crust topped with vegan sausage, button mushrooms, tomatoes, corn, onions, and black olives.

“We’re so excited to introduce the new vegan items to our menu to kick-off 2021. With recipe innovation at the core of the brand, we’re proud to continue our commitment to vegan products with the launch of the Not-Chicken Vegan Bites and Vegan Stuffed Crust,” Giles Codd, Papa John’s Marketing Director, said. “We’ve also thoroughly enjoyed working with one of our Paralympic ambassadors, Alice Tai, to create a limited-edition plant-based pizza—another menu addition that we expect to be a huge hit with pizza lovers across the nation.”

Vegan at Papa John’s
While the chain’s United States locations have yet to modernize their menus, Papa John’s has added vegan options to its menus worldwide, including in Chile (where it now serves The Vegan Royal pizza topped with Follow Your Heart and “NotMeat” made by Chilean startup The Not Company); Spain (where it offers the Papa John’s Green menu of two pizzas); Costa Rica (where it offers a Follow Your Heart cheese-topped Vegan Green and Beyond Meat-topped Beyond Green pizzas); and the Netherlands (where it offers jackfruit-based vegan pepperoni).
