On May 6, actress Nikki Reed will launch a vegan sneaker line in collaboration with sustainable footwear brand LOCI. The Reed x LOCI collection features a simple low-cut sneaker ($160) with the LOCI logo that is available in white, beige, black, blue, or yellow. The white sneakers also come in a variety of accent color options, such as navy and red, orange and blue, and black and yellow. Handmade in Portugal, the shoes are crafted from durable and sustainable materials such as cork and recycled foam insoles, a bamboo lining, and an outer material made from repurposed ocean plastic. The shoes are also treated so they are waterproof yet breathable.

“LOCI represents so much more than a shoe. It’s a chance to prove that we can create products that are as chic as they are conscious of the planet,” Reed said. “Luxury and sustainability can live together, you don’t have to sacrifice one for the other.”

Vegan shoes for the Oscars

The vegan sneakers will be included in this year’s ‘Everyone Wins” Nominee Gift Bags, which are delivered to Oscar nominees in the Best Actor + Actress, Best Supporting Actor + Actress, and Best Director categories. Nominees who will receive the swag bags include Daniel Kaluuya, Olivia Colman, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Riz Ahmed, Viola Davis, Andra Day, and Carey Mulligan. This year’s bags, curated by LA-based entertainment marketing agency Distinctive Assets, feature companies that embrace diversity, inclusion, health, and philanthropy. For its part, LOCI is on a mission to help save marine animals by donating a portion of its profits to protect vulnerable species and protected sea habitats.

Nikki Reed’s vegan fashion collaborations

In 2016, Reed worked with designer Morgan Bogle to create a six-piece luxury handbag capsule collection that is both sustainable and vegan for Bogle’s designer handbag brand Freedom of Animals. The line consisted of three new bag styles in black and white, constructed with 100 percent recycled polyurethane.
