What is THC? And is it vegan?

Short for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, THC is a psychoactive compound found in cannabis. When the cannabis plant is smoked or consumed, THC creates a “high” sensation. Because it’s a plant compound, THC itself is naturally vegan, but not all products containing THC are plant-based. 

Cookies, gummies, chocolates, and other foods can be infused with THC, but it’s important to know these aren’t always vegan. A gelatin-based gummy infused with THC, for example, isn’t vegan. When seeking out THC-infused eats (commonly known as edibles) it’s important to check the ingredients for animal products.
