A new music video commissioned by Chipotle features Willie Nelson covering of Coldplay’s “The Scientist” combined with animation promoting an anti-factory farming stance. The video’s narrative follows farmers as they shift from traditional family farms to the industrial mode of factory farms, treating animals as products and pumping them full of antibiotics. Eventually, the farmer realizes the pollutive and exploitative consequences and reverts to a free-range, small-scale operation. Chipotle plans to show the video in 5,700 movie theaters across the country, and 60 percent of sales from the $.99 song on iTunes will be donated to the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, which supports sustainable farming. Chipotle recently committed to using more than 10 million pounds of locally sourced produce this year.
