BCBG Brands Ban Fur and Angora

Luxury fashion brands BCBG Max Azria and BCBGeneration announced last week that they will no longer develop clothing made with fur or angora. Animal-rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and sister youth organization peta2 had been petitioning the brand to stop using fur and angora in its collections for almost three years. “After learning about our appeal,” PETA author Zachary Toliver said, “executives of Marquee Brands, the BCBG brands’ new owner, let PETA know that fur and angora are now banned.” The luxury line is the latest to ban fur, mirroring changing made by companies such as Armani, Hugo Boss, and Gucci—the latter of which will eliminate fur next year.
