Pop sensation Billie Ellish, her brother Finneas O’Connell, and their mother Maggie Baird made a special Mother’s Day delivery on Sunday to support women in need and nurses working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. The vegan family delivered doughnuts from Donut Friend, burritos from Cena Vegan, and flower bouquets from DB Creativity to the Downtown Women’s Center and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital. “We had an incredible Mother’s Day today,” Baird posted on Instagram.

The donation event was part of Baird’s ongoing Support + Feed initiative, a program she launched in Los Angeles in March that aims to support vegan restaurants by encouraging gift orders and donations while feeding those in need through a coordinated delivery effort. In addition to Los Angeles, the Support + Feed initiative now operates in a similar way in New York City and Philadelphia

As part of the initiative, VegNews joined Baird on Saturday to help deliver donations from vegan businesses Donut Friend, PBJ.LA, and Yoga-urt to the children’s charity Ronald McDonald House in Los Angeles. “Already in our very short time, we have already donated over 6,500 meals, 2,500 donuts, and 3,700 cans of water from RightWater,” Baird told VegNews at the event. “We’ve made some in-kind donations. We’ve met so many people thanks to the people who support Support + Feed. We’ve also helped a bunch of amazing plant-based restaurants keep their doors open thanks to [supporters]. We have lots more food on the way.”
