Burger King Expands Plant-Based Impossible Whopper Across Europe

Starting tomorrow, Burger King locations in Sweden will begin to offer a version of the Impossible Whopper. Sweden is the first country outside of the United States to offer the plant-based burger, which Burger King aims to expand in coming months across Europe. “Many guests are asking for more options to reduce their meat consumption,” Iwo Zakowski, CEO of Burger King Sweden, said. “We hope that the plant-based alternative will appeal to both new and existing guests.” In April, Burger King launched the Impossible Whopper—made with plant-based Impossible Burger patty and ordered vegan by omitting mayonnaise—at 59 locations in St. Louis to test consumer demand. After sales of the Impossible Whopper exceeded Burger King’s expectations, the chain announced that it will expand the burger to more than 7,200 locations nationwide starting with Miami, FL, Montgomery, AL, and Columbus, GA.
