Campbell’s Soup Commits to Plant-Based Future
The food company joins trade group Plant Based Foods Association to bring more vegan food to consumers.

This week, food manufacturer Campbell Soup Co. became a member of trade group Plant Based Foods Association (PBFA). “We are thrilled to have Campbell join our membership,” PBFA executive director Michele Simon said. “With their leadership, the plant-based foods sector is certain to grow even faster. We look forward to a long and productive partnership.” Campbell’s is now the largest member of the group—which also includes vegan companies such as Daiya Foods, Tofurky, and Follow Your Heart—that advocates for getting more vegan food in retail and foodservice outlets. “We are committed to providing our consumers with food choices that meet their nutrition, well-being, and lifestyle needs,” Campbell Fresh president Ed Carolan said. “Working together with the PBFA, we can advance our shared goal of bringing more plant-based foods to consumers.” In July, the soup company acquired plant-based milk brand Pacific Foods for $700 million, while one of its brands, Bolthouse Farms, launched a pea protein-based vegan milk line last month.
