New cannabis-infused vegan and gluten-free cookies from vegan bakery Ms. Greenfields Edibles recently launched in 12 California dispensaries. The cookies—made of a blend of gluten-free flours, brown sugar, canola oil, and rice syrup—are infused with 10 milligrams of THC and come in three flavors: Brownie, Chocolate Chip, and S’mores (complete with vegan marshmallows and dairy-free chocolate chips). The products also come with the Guide to Eating Edibles so customers can prepare for their experience. Rey Ortega, CEO of Ms. Greenfields Edibles, has been in the vegan bakery business since 1993. “Since I was a vegan company, I already sold millions of vegan cookies and then began experimenting with edibles years ago under Prop 215 (the Compassionate Use Act),” Ortega told VegNews. “I wanted to make a better quality and healthier edible.” Under his Ms. Greenfields brand, Ortega also sells vegan cannabis-infused hard drops in Watermelon, Black Cherry, Tropical, and Coffee flavors. He is currently developing a Greenfields line of medicinal CBD products, including cookies, brownies, and soft drops, to help with pain management, anxiety, and sleep. In the coming months, Ortega plans to expand distribution of his products to more of the 650 licensed dispensaries in California.
