Chloe Coscarelli Fired for Defending Veganism

A New York arbitrator ruled that ESquared Hospitality is allowed to terminate by CHLOE restaurant chef and co-founder Chloe Coscarelli and move forward with the brand without her involvement. According to the New York Post, the legal conflict began when ESquared allegedly expressed the intention to open non-vegan restaurants under the by CHLOE brand last year. Coscarelli defended her brand by filing a lawsuit against ESquared CEO (and father of her co-founder Samantha Wasser), Jimmy Haber. While devastating, Coscarelli told the Wall Street Journal that the ruling will not deter her from making sure her name is not associated with cruelty. “I will protect the integrity of my brand,” Coscarelli said. The by CHLOE chain—which opened its flagship West Village location in 2015—currently operates seven profitable restaurants in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and Rhode Island.
