The UK chapter of Humane Society International has launched a Cruelty-Free Christmas Pledge, asking participants to celebrate the holiday season compassionately. Singer Leona Lewis, comedian Ricky Gervais, and actress Joanna Lumley have all spoken in support of the campaign, which suggests enjoying vegetarian holiday meals, avoiding animal-tested products and fur, and not giving animals as gifts. To take the pledge, people can go to HSI’s website and check off boxes for each animal-friendly action that they promise to fulfill. HSI also has a Humane Gifts store, offering the opportunity to donate to a variety of animal-related causes.
