Dairy Prices to Rise

Recession affecting milk industry.

Got milk? Maybe not much longer. The demand for milk products is about to turn sour after many years of a growing appetite for dairy. Amid the economic meltdown and credit crunch, dairy farmers are finding it harder to operate production on such a tight budget. While some consumers may enjoy today’s relatively low milk prices, costs are bound to rise if farmers are forced to scale back on production to cut costs, driving prices back up. Cross your fingers for a final jump to soy, almond, and hemp milk, all healthier and more environmentally friendly than the bovine version.
