Actor and director Kevin Smith marked a major health milestone this week: losing 51 pounds in six months, a goal set by his physician after he suffered a massive heart attack earlier this year. Smith removed animal products from his diet following the health scare and reduced his weight from 256 pounds to 205 pounds, with the goal of losing another 10 pounds—which Smith jokes will bring him to his “birth weight of 195 [pounds].” Smith posted a photo of his newly svelte physique to Instagram to celebrate the milestone. “I [want to] thank my kid Harley Quinn Smith—the little vegan astronaut who explored this meatless/milkless galaxy ahead of me, leading by example. Since I never wanted to see the inside of a hospital ever again, I simply copied the kid,” Smith captioned the photo. “So this wasn’t a diet: these results came from a total lifestyle change of eating solely plant-based foods, which is tough because I hate vegetables.” Smith is known for directing cult-classic films such as Chasing Amy and Clerks, as well as portraying “Silent Bob” in the Jay and Silent Bob film series.
