On May 24, California-based vegan bakery Cinnaholic will open its first Ottawa location—which will be the seventh in Canada. The franchise chain specializes in gourmet vegan cinnamon rolls that can be customized with a variety of frostings (such as caramel, marshmallow, and cake batter) and more than 20 topping options (such as chocolate chip cookie bites, pie crumble, and raspberries). “There is a tremendous amount of excitement to serve our award-winning cinnamon rolls to the people of Ottawa,” Elliot Tremblay, franchise owner of Cinnaholic in Ottawa, said. “I’m eager to bring such a delicious and allergy-friendly dessert to my community. The concept is fun and will serve a growing demographic in the area.” As per the chain’s tradition, the new location will offer $1 cinnamon rolls for a limited time on opening day. Founded in 2009 by Shannon and Florian Radke, the chain gained national attention after it won over investors on ABC’s television program Shark Tank. The Ottawa location joins existing franchises in Toronto, Edmonton, and Winnipeg, as well as in 14 states, including a newly opened New Jersey location—with 100 more outposts currently in development.
