In celebration of this week’s World Vegetarian Day, international pizza chain Domino’s added vegan cheese to its permanent menu across locations in New Zealand. The chain posted a poll to Facebook in March asking fans, “Do you want vegan cheese?,” after which it trialed vegan cheese at all of its locations this summer. “It may be World Vegetarian Day, but we have some exciting news for our vegan pizza lovers,” the chain announced on Facebook this week. “Following an overwhelming response to our delicious Angel Food vegan cheese, we are pleased to announce that this is now a permanent addition to our national menu, and we are celebrating with the launch of our new Vegan Cheesy Garlic Bread.” Domino’s Australia—which shares regional CEO Nick Knight with Domino’s New Zealand—followed a similar path toward introducing vegan cheese (made by United States-based brand Follow Your Heart) to its 600 locations in January.
