Eleven Madison Park, which famously adopted an entirely vegan menu in 2021 before reintroducing animal products in 2025, has started serving foie gras again.
In the words of fine-dining chef and restaurateur Alexis Gauthier: “Why should the suffering involved in producing an ingredient become acceptable simply because generations of chefs have considered it prestigious?”
Find out more about what Gauthier had to say about Eleven Madison Park and the future of fine dining here.
But before that, catch up on all of this week’s exciting food news. Vegan ice cream is more accessible than ever, Beyond has launched another new product, and, once again, it isn’t vegan meat. Plus, Sprouts is getting ready for the holidays, and more.
Carvel and Klimon’s new menu features nine vegan flavors. | Carvel
Carvel and Klimon team up on new non-dairy ice cream menu
Back in 2024, Carvel made our January when it launched Oatly frozen desserts nationwide. But now, the ice cream chain, which has nearly 400 locations, might have outdone itself. Carvel has teamed up with Klimon to launch a new permanent nondairy menu.
And it hasn’t taken the move lightly. The chain spent more than a year working with the popular non-dairy brand to perfect the lineup. Customers can choose from nine flavors, including Cold Brew, Oreo Cookies & Cream, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Ripple, as well as 25 toppings.
The new options are available as soft serve, scooped desserts, Flying Saucers, and shakes.

Beyond’s new protein drinks contain caffeine for an extra boost. | Beyond
Beyond enters the energy drink category
Back in January, Beyond surprised us all by entering the beverage category for the first time. Then, in May, founder Ethan Brown surprised us again when he revealed that the brand, best known for its realistic bleeding burgers and meaty sausages, was a “beverage company in hiding.”
So, well, it’s hardly surprising that Beyond entered another drink category in October: energy beverages.
The brand has launched Beyond Immerse Protein + Energy, a caffeinated version of its original protein drink, alongside three new flavors of its Beyond Immerse sparkling protein drinks (Watermelon Strawberry, Limoncello Ginger, and Yuzu Grapefruit).
“We believe plants have superpowers, and few are as widely appreciated by consumers as caffeine,” Brown said in a statement. As we add energy to the Beyond Immerse portfolio, we are staying true to our approach: great taste and carefully selected, limited ingredients that help consumers thrive.”
