Google Exec Pitches Meatless Meat to Investors

Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt discusses Google’s interest in the future of plant-based eating.

At an annual shareholder for Google’s umbrella company Alphabest, Inc., executive chairman Eric Schmidt expressed the corporation’s intention to support meatless meat startups. Among topics such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, self-driving cars, and 3-D printing of building materials, Schmidt presented the concept as “Nerds Over Cattle” to explain the importance of supporting technological advancements in meatless meat production as opposed to slaughtering cows. In a May interview with Fortune, Schmidt named plant-based food as one of six most important technology trends today, stating that he saw a revolution approaching in which plants would replace meat.
