Mangalore, India-based brand Hangyo released two plant-based ice cream flavors last month at the 90th Foundation Day celebration of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in New Delhi. The company entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with ICAR and its Central Plantation Crops Research Institute to develop the product last year. “We have been successful in manufacturing and expanding a new product range of the Hangyo brand,” Hangyo’s Managing Director Pradeep G. Pai said. “This is made on the lines of the Prime Minister’s slogan, ‘Make in India.’” The coconut milk-based ice cream is available in Coconut Delicacy and Choconut Delicacy flavors. “In India, the ice cream sector is growing,” Pai said, “and we at Hangyo are constantly working to bring better and new products to our customers.”
