Mycelium-based holiday roasts land at Erewhon
Berkeley-based Prime Roots has rolled out seasonal Cracked Pepper Turkey and Black Forest Ham roasts at all Erewhon stores—just in time for holiday hosting. Made from the brand’s mycelium-based “clean protein,” the nearly 2.3-pound roasts are gluten- and soy-free and can be served hot or cold. Prime Roots says the revamped recipes mirror the flavor and texture of classic deli-style meats, and early taste tests found that more than half of participating meat eaters preferred them over conventional versions. The plant-based roasts are priced at $54.99 each and are available for a limited time.
Mr.Charlie’s
Los Angeles’ viral McDonald’s copycat chain is opening two locations in a new city
Mr. Charlie’s, the popular Los Angeles–based vegan fast-food chain known for its McDonald’s-inspired menu items, is expanding to San Diego. In a recent Instagram post, the chain confirmed it will be opening two new locations in the city, in Hillcrest and Pacific Beach. “This chapter isn’t just about expansion,” the post reads. “It’s about showing up for a new community with the same love, humor, and heartbeat that built this brand.”
Just Meat
Eat Just’s new hyper-realistic plant-based chicken is coming to over 3,000 Walmarts
Eat Just’s hyper-realistic vegan chicken, Just Meat, is launching in more than 3,000 Walmart stores across all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Like the brand’s popular Just Egg, Just Meat has been formulated to mimic the texture, flavor, and appearance of conventional chicken. In an independent taste test, participants even said they preferred Just Meat to regular chicken. “This is the first time most consumers prefer plant-based chicken over animal chicken. That changes things,” said Josh Tetrick, co-founder and CEO, in a statement. Just Meat is also now available at Sprouts, H-E-B, Albertsons United, and many more retailers across the US.

You can now get Erewhon smoothies delivered in NYC
If you’re based in New York City, you can now order Erewhon’s smoothies straight to your door via Uber Eats and Postmates. While many of the luxury grocery chain’s blends contain collagen (which isn’t vegan), there is currently one plant-based option available in New York: the Peanut Butter Blast. It’s made with raw almond milk, bananas, peanut butter, cacao powder, and Mikuna Chocho Superfood Plant Protein.
Daiya
Daiya is committed to cutting its salt content in half
Popular Canadian vegan cheese brand Daiya has teamed up with natural salt manufacturer MicroSalt to reduce the sodium content of its products. When consumed to excess, sodium can increase blood pressure, which may increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. This is why MicroSalt has created a new type of salt using micron-sized particles. The new salt tastes just like the regular kind, but contains 50 percent less sodium.
In a statement, Rick Guiney, CEO of MicroSalt, said that MicroSalt was “pleased to align” with Daiya Foods. He noted that the company shares its “vision of making healthier eating both delicious and accessible.”

Cold brew dairy-free ice cream is now in Kroger stores
Cold brew fans, listen up. Kroger is now selling dairy-free, cold brew-flavored ice cream. The product is the result of a collaboration between dairy-free ice cream brand So Delicious and Stok Cold Brew. The brand confirmed that the new vegan ice cream is currently available at Kroger and will be landing in more stores in 2026.
Pietramala
One of the country’s best vegan fine dining restaurants is now Michelin-recognized
Vegan Philadelphia restaurant Pietramala, which specializes in plant-based cuisine made with hyper-local and foraged produce, has been recognized by the Michelin Guide. The restaurant received the prestigious Green Star, an honor reserved for eateries that prioritize and excel in sustainability initiatives. The Michelin Guide also praised the quality of Pietramala’s dishes and noted that its “atmosphere is contagiously convivial.”
The recognition is particularly notable given that Philadelphia has very few Michelin-recognized restaurants. Alongside Pietramala’s Green Star, three restaurants in the city earned a Michelin Star this year for the first time ever.

South Florida gets a brand new vegan spot
Delray Beach in South Florida has a brand-new vegan restaurant. True Vegan is now open on Atlantic Avenue and comes from the same team behind the city’s first plant-based restaurant, The New Vegan. The menu features an array of flavor-packed, plant-forward dishes made with fresh, locally grown ingredients. Standouts include Curry Plantain, Palm Tuna, and the Maya Energy Salad with turmeric protein. If you’re local or visiting Delray Beach, the restaurant is now taking bookings.
