Are you as obsessed with your morning (or afternoon, or evening) smoothie as we are? If your on-the-go beverage of choice is a nutrient-packed, fruit-filled smoothie, chances are you’re a fan of Jamba. From a summery strawberry peach beverage to a post-workout peanut butter banana protein shake, this smoothie shop has served up millions of blended concoctions since it opened in the early 1990s.

Does Jamba have vegan options?

In the last 10 years, as mainstream chain restaurants have added more and more plant-based options to their menus, this forward-thinking chain has followed suit. Its vegan options have expanded rapidly, with non-dairy milks and snack items hitting its menus. In 2019, the company became the first major smoothie chain to add Oatly oat milk to its offerings.

“We’ve been talking with our guests and through research have seen first-hand the growing demand for more milk alternatives,” Geoff Henry, Jamba President at the time, said.

“Oatly is a natural partner for us in our effort to create more plant-based options and meet this demand,” he continued.

That same year, the smoothie giant added more vegan options to its menu with smoothie bowls featuring oat milk and pea protein. But the chain didn’t stop at just milk alternatives and smoothies.

In 2021, Jamba added its first plant-based meat option at more than 700 locations nationwide with its Impossible Handwich. Unfortunately, this sandwich—which could easily be made vegan by omitting the dairy cheese—has since been removed from the Jamba menu. In lieu of this handheld, there are still a variety of items vegans can enjoy when ordering from the smoothie chain.

How to order vegan at Jamba

Whether you need a quick breakfast smoothie on your way to work or are looking for healthy, post-workout fuel, here’s how to order vegan at Jamba.

1 Smoothies

Good news! Almost all of the smoothies at Jamba Juice are, or can be made, vegan. The following smoothies are all vegan as-is, with no modifications required.

  • Apple N’ Greens: This fruity, tart veggie-blend is a mixture of apple-pear-strawberry juice, kale, mangos, bananas, and peaches.
  • Greens ‘N Ginger: Tart and creamy, this simple blend features lemonade, peaches, kale, mangos, and ginger.
  • Mega Mango: Not to be confused with Mango-A-Go-Go (which contains dairy when ordered as is), Mega Mango combines mangos with strawberries, orange juice, and pineapple juice.
  • Peach Perfection: Peaches, mangos, strawberries, and two fruit juice blends (white grape-pear-peach juice and apple-pear-strawberry juice) come together for summery sips.
  • Protein Berry Workout (Soy): This post-workout smoothie is a blend of soy milk, strawberries, and bananas.
  • Strawberry Whirl: A classic flavor combination, this smoothie is made with strawberries, bananas, and a fruity juice blend of apples, pears, and more strawberries.

The rest of Jamba’s smoothie items are made with dairy-based sherbet or yogurt. Jamba previously offered So Delicious Oatmilk Frozen Dessert, and could easily make any smoothie vegan by swapping out dairy-based sherbet or yogurt for this oat milk alternative. However, at the time of writing, the chain no longer offers this option.

If you’re looking for something a little more filling than a smoothie, Jamba’s smoothie bowls are a great option. They pack all of the flavor and nutrition of a smoothie plus a variety of toppings for added sustenance. Jamba bowls are made with a drizzle of honey, so be sure to omit this ingredient or ask for an agave drizzle instead. Here’s what to order …

  • Açai Dragon Twist: Bananas, strawberries, blueberries, and granola sit atop a base of açai and dragon fruit. Omit the honey drizzle to make this bowl vegan.
  • Açaí Primo: Açaí-grape juice, vanilla soy milk, blueberries, strawberries, and bananas create the thick base of this nutrient-packed bowl, topped with organic granola, fresh bananas, blueberries, and strawberries (simply request to have the drizzle of honey left off to make it completely vegan).
  • Dragon Fruit Delight: Made with a base of pineapple juice, organic dragon fruit, pineapples, bananas, mangos, and strawberries, this bowl is finished off with crunchy granola, coconut flakes, bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. Request an agave drizzle in place of the usual honey.

4Iced drinks

Jamba is best known for its smoothies, but the chain has recently ventured into iced drinks. Made with a lemonade base, think of these as Jamba’s version of Starbucks Refreshers. Refreshingly bold, all four bevs currently on offer are suitable for vegans—no modifications required.

  • Blue Lava: This strawberry lemonade owes its blue hue to spirulina. Fresh strawberries are the finishing touch.
  • Electric Ice: Dragon fruit lemonade meets blue spirulina in this electrifying drink.
  • Strawberry Lemon Twist: Classic lemonade is given an upgrade with the addition of a strawberry purée topping.
  • Peachberry Blast: Peach-infused strawberry lemonade—with fresh strawberry garnish—makes for a perfect, summery drink.
