On June 14, international chain Hard Rock Cafe will add a vegan-friendly burger to its “Legendary Burger” menu at locations in 23 countries across Europe. The burger features a plant-based patty made by British startup Moving Mountains Foods and is served with (optional) dairy-based cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce, and an onion ring. “Our mission is to expand into new restaurants and cities making truly inspiring flexitarian dining available to everyone using the latest food technology,” Moving Mountains Founder Simeon Van der Molen said. “Our launch into the world-famous Hard Rock Cafe, which is renowned for its legendary burgers, certifies the Moving Mountains Burger as a truly delicious burger that can compete with beef and match the size, too, with our 6-ounce patty.” Moving Mountains first launched its vegan burger in 2018 after two years in development and recently secured a $12 million partnership with distributor Rastelli Foods to get its products to hotels, restaurants, and retail markets across the Middle East. Hard Rock will offer the Moving Mountains Burger at locations in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Cologne, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Florence, Glasgow, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Manchester, Munich, Nice, Paris, Prague, Rome, Seville, Venice, and Vienna. Stateside, Hard Rock Cafe added the plant-based Impossible Burger to nearly 40 locations nationwide in January and serves it in a similar menu item, made vegan by omitting the cheese and the bun.
