Hawaii-based food company Bubbies Homemade Ice Cream & Desserts. will debut a vegan mochi line this week. The 30-year-old brand’s first vegan product line features gluten-free and kosher mochi made with fruit purée in flavors such as mango, cherry, vanilla, and mint. “This new frozen dessert will fulfill a unique market niche that has been asking for a vegan, non-GMO alternative,” Bubbies CEO Rick Schaffer said. “We are pleased to offer it in a tasty array of flavor options.” Bubbies new line follows the trend of non-vegan companies—such as Häagen-Dazs, Ben & Jerry’s, and Halo Top—which have recently launched dairy-free products to meet consumer demand.
