Starting today, vegan restaurant Café Gratitude will add the I LOVE YOU Bowl to all four of its locations in California. The new option—which features a variety of seasonal ingredients such as Brussels sprouts and butternut squash, with forbidden black rice and quinoa—was co-created by the restaurant’s Executive Chef Dreux Ellis, musician and social-justice advocate Jaden Smith—son of celebrity couple Will and Jada Pinkett Smith—and Smith Family chef Tabitha George. Café Gratitude aims to sell 10,000 I LOVE YOU Bowls—which are served in a flamingo pink ceramic bowl inscribed with a handwritten “I love you” message from Smith himself—so that Smith can serve 10,000 free meals to the food insecure through his own vegan venture I LOVE YOU Restaurant in 2020. In July, Smith launched the first pop-up location of I LOVE YOU Restaurant to feed the homeless community of the Skid Row region of Los Angeles and has since served 1,500 vegan meals, curated by George, at two additional stops in Los Angeles and New York.
